Waiver Agreement

All participants must agree to the following waiver statement by South Sound Chess club and its event centers. All event registration forms have this language and are required before playing or observing any event this club puts on.

You may be asked to sign a copy of this agreement when on-site in addition to the electronic agreement via Google Forms.

I understand that bullying, harassment, abuse, threats, violence, or disruptive behavior of any kind is immediate grounds for removal from the tournament site with a temporary or permanent ban from all future South Sound Chess tournaments. Violators will be reported to the US Chess Federation and local/state/federal law enforcement agencies.

I understand masks are no longer mandatory under King County regulation and law. Masks are recommended due to close contact with other players; please bring your own.

I understand that if I am feeling sick or have a fever I will not attend the event and will provide ample advance notice to South Sound Chess of my absence.

I understand that all participants, volunteers, and employees must wash and/or sanitize their hands after using the restroom, sneezing, or coughing.

I understand that South Sound Chess, as well as its staff, officers, volunteers, and event centers are NOT responsible for any potential exposure to Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19. Should anyone attending a South Sound Chess tournament become afflicted with COVID-19, you also agree to waive any liability against South Sound Chess (plus its event centers) and hold South Sound Chess harmless from any legal consequences.

I understand that South Sound Chess reserves the right to modify, in whole or in part, the policies detailed above. Any modification will be based on updates to the CDC’s guidelines and/or any applicable federal, state, local or event center policies.

I understand that media exposure (including but not limited to photographs, audio recordings, and videos) may be present at any/all South Sound Chess tournaments, and by entering any area where South Sound Chess is running an event means that you consent to your voice, name, and/or likeness being used without compensation, in films and tapes for use in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised indefinitely, and you release South Sound Chess, its successors, assigns, officers, licensees from any liability whatsoever.

I understand that if I witness any violations of the above policies or others set by South Sound Chess, I will report them to the President, Kyle Boddy, as promptly as possible to help create a safe, clean, welcoming, and competitive environment to play chess.
